Walkers and Boots

Watch the video

Walkers or walker boots are medical devices used to offload and injured tissues or fractures of the foot and ankle. They are often used instead of casting and are regularly used in recovery after foot surgery.

They have thick, rigid, rocker soles allowing you to weight-bear without the bones of the foot and ankle moving as much, allowing healing of injuries.

It is important to wear a shoe on the other foot that has a similar height heel so as to prevent causing a leg length problem you can buy heel raises for the other foot to help with this.

They can be removed which helps with keeping clean and sleeping meaning they are more practical than plaster of paris casts for many patients.
